La pareja dorada, Krejcikova y Siniakova, encabezan las semifinales de dobles
Guadalajara, Jalisco, 21 de Octubre 2022.- En la modalidad de dobles, también están listas las semifinales del GDL Open Akron 2022.
La jornada sabatina comenzará en el estadio Akron a las 14:30 horas, con la pareja número uno de la siembra, Barbora Krejcikova y Katerina Siniakova, de la República Checa, que enfrentarán a la dupla formada por la brasileña Beatriz Haddad Maia y Anna Danilina.
La checas, que recientemente completaron el llamado “Grand Slam Dorado” con la conquista del US Open, buscarán su segunda final consecutiva en Guadalajara, pues también llegaron al partido por el título en las Finals 2021.
Las campeonas de tres torneos de Grand Slam este año (Australia, Wimbledon y US Open), tendrán enfrente a la dupla finalista del Abierto de Australia en duelo de revancha, pues en esa ocasión Barbora y Katerina, consideradas las mejores jugadoras del mundo en dobles, derrotaron a Beatriz y Anna, en un partido muy cerrado de tres sets.
Como equipo, la brasileña Haddad y la kazaja Danilina, se llevaron el campeonato este año del torneo de Sídney.
En la segunda semifinal, el equipo integrado por la brasileña Luisa Stefani y la australiana Storm Sanders, disputarán el pase a la final ante las chinas, Yifan Xu y Zhaoxuan, octavas sembradas, quienes dejaron en el camino a las grandes favoritas sentimentales del público, Giuliana Olmos de México y Gabriela Dabrowski de Canadá.
La veterana Xu de 34 años, es la doblista 20 del mundo y ha ganado 12 títulos en su carrera, dos de ellos este año junto a Zhaoxuan, en Indian Wells y San José.
Por su parte, Stefani y Sanders, llegan descansadas a este partido, pues no jugaron en cuartos de final debido al retiro de la dupla de Veronika Kudermetova y Elise Mertens. Este es apenas el segundo torneo que participan juntas, ya que la semana pasada lo hicieron en San Diego, donde llegaron a cuartos de final. Ambas tienen cuatro títulos en su carrera, con diferentes parejas.

The Saturday session will begin at the Akron stadium at 2:30 p.m., when the first seeded couple, Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova, from the Czech Republic, take on the the pair formed by the Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia and Anna Danilina.
The Czechs, who recently completed the so-called “Golden Grand Slam” with the conquest of the US Open, will seek their second consecutive final in Guadalajara, a stage where they also reached the title match at the 2021 Finals.
The three-time Grand Slam winners this year (Australia, Wimbledon and US Open), will face the finalist duo of the Australian Open in a rematch, because on that occasion Barbora and Katerina, considered the best doubles players in the world, defeated Beatriz and Anna, in a very close match of three sets.
As a team, the Brazilian Haddad and the Kazakh Danilina, took the championship this year in the Sydney tournament.
In the second semifinal, the team made up of the Brazilian Luisa Stefani and the Australian Storm Sanders, will compete for final against the Chinese, Yifan Xu and Zhaoxuan, eighth seeds, who left behind the great sentimental favorites of the public, Giuliana Olmos from Mexico and Gabriela Dabrowski from Canada.
The 34-year-old veteran Xu is the 20th-ranked doubles player in the world and has 12 career-titles, including two this year with Zhaoxuan, in Indian Wells and in San Jose.
For their part, Stefani and Sanders will arrive rested for this match, since they did not play in the quarterfinals due to the withdrawal of Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens. It´s only the second tournament that they participate together, since last week they did it in San Diego, where they reached the quarterfinals. Both have four titles in their career, with different partners.
