Paula Badosa, el 2022 ha sido un año de mucho aprendizaje
Guadalajara, Jalisco, 17 de octubre 2022.- Paula Badosa principal favorita para conquistar el GDL Open Akron 1000 que comenzó este lunes en el Centro Panamericano de Tenis,.
En entrevista previa a su debut, la española aseguró “La verdad no siento tampoco tanta responsabilidad (por ser la primera cabeza de serie) porque es un cuadro muy difícil. El nivel de las tenistas que veremos en acción es muy alto y cualquiera le puede ganar a cualquiera, sin importar el ranking”
Badosa, número cuatro del ranking mundial de la Asociación Femenil de Tenis, quien debutará en la segunda ronda del torneo, peleará por el título con rivales como Aryna Sabalenka (5 WTA), Jessica Pegula (6), Maria Sakkari (7) y Coco Gauff (8), entre otras.
“Seas la sembrada número 1, la sembrada 2 o la 3 son partidos durísimos, solo quiero jugar los máximos partidos, ganar lo más posible, estar competitiva y poder disfrutar en la pista”.
Con una carrera de 10 años desde que comenzó en el circuito de la ITF, Paula Badosa tiene tres títulos de la WTA en su trayectoria deportiva, incluido un WTA 1000 que logró el 17 de mayo de 2021, en Indian Wells.
A unos días de su debut en el GDL Open Akron 1000 en Zapopan, la tenista española nacida en Nueva York quiere dar un golpe de autoridad como primera de la siembra, pero si no lo logra sabe que será de gran experiencia disputar este torneo y enfilarse al cierre de la temporada 2022, un año que a su consideración ha sido positivo.
“Ha sido un año bueno, también difícil para mí, pero estoy ‘top ten’ así que ha sido un año con muchas experiencias buenas, muchos retos que he tenido que superar, pero me ha dado mucha fuerza y mucho aprendizaje también para el año que viene”.
En busca del segundo WTA 1000 de su carrera y del cuarto trofeo en su trayectoria, Paula Badosa comenzará su andar en el torneo en la segunda ronda, donde enfrentará a la vencedora del choque entre Victoria Azarenka y Shuai Zhang.

Guadalajara, Jalisco, 17 de octubre 2022.- Paula Badosa is the first seeded of the GDL Open Akron 1000 that began on Monday at the Pan-American Tennis Center said an interview ahead of her debut.
“I really don’t feel that much responsibility (being the top seeded) because is a very difficult draw. The tennis level we are watching right now is amazing and every one can beat anyone, regardless of her ranking”, said the Spaniard player.
Badosa, No.4 in the WTA rankings, will debut in the second round and will be vying for the title against some other top players, like Aryna Sabalenka (5 WTA), Jessica Pegula (6), Maria Sakkari (7) and Coco Gauff (8), among others.
“Either you are number 1 or the second or third ranked player, this are very tough matches. I just want to play as much as I can, win as much as I can, stay competitive and enjoy my time on the court”, she added.
With ten years of experience after turning pro in the ITF, Badosa has three career titles, including a WTA 1000 in the 2021 Indian Wells.
Days before her debut at the GDL Open Akron 1000 in Zapopan, the Spanish player born in New York wants to send a message as the top-ranked player. But even if she doesn’t, she knows it will be a great experience playing in Guadalajara and finish strong the 2022 season, which she describes as a positive one.
“It’s been a good year, tough for me, but I’m Top 10, so it´s been mostly positive, a lot of challenges I’ve had to overcome. This has given me the strength and so much learning for the next year”, she said.
Badosa is aiming for her second WTA 1000 title and her fourth championship, and she will begin her quest against Victoria Azarenka.
