Fruhvirtova accede al cuadro principal
Guadalajara, Jalisco, 16 de octubre 2022.- La checa Linda Fruhvirtova, de 17 años de edad, consiguió su pase al cuadro principal del GDL Open Akron 1000, luego de vencer a la rusa Elina Avanesyan, con parciales de 7-5 y 6-2.
Fruhvirtova, quien ya ganó su primer título como profesional el mes pasado, en Chennai, se ubica actualmente en el sitio 76 del ranking mundial y aparecía como la primera sembrada de la qualy.
Linda parecía enfilarse a una victoria, después de quebrar en el set inicial el saque de Avanesyan y apuntarse otro rompimiento en el tercer juego, en su quinta oportunidad de quiebre. Avanesyan estaba un poco inconsistente con su primer saque, lo que la llevó a cometer varias dobles faltas.
La rusa frenó un poco el paso de la checa en el juego cuatro, al recuperar uno de los rompimientos en un game que su oponente tenía controlado, tras colocarse 40-0, pero ahora las dobles faltas fueron de Linda, quien terminó por ceder su saque. Sin embargo, justo en el siguiente game Fruhvirtova volvió a quebrar.
Avanesyan al fin sostuvo su servicio en el séptimo juego y volvió a romper en el siguiente para emparejar el marcador a cuatro games por lado.
En los siguientes tres juegos ninguna fue capaz de mantener su saque, hasta que en el duodécimo, la checa no falló y amarró el set, después de poco más de una hora.
En esa primera manga Fruhvirtova cometió nueve dobles faltas, por siete de Avanesyan.
Para el segundo parcial Linda encaminó el triunfo con un 6-2, para así asegurar su lugar en el cuadro principal.
También amarraron un sitio en el main draw la estadounidense Asia Muhammad, quien venció a la brasileña Laura Pigossi por 6-2 y 6-4, y la canadiense Rebecca Marino, al derrotar a la norteamericana Elvina Kalieva por 7-5, 2-6 y 6-3.

Guadalajara, Jalisco, October 16th 2022.- Czech Linda Fruhvirtova made it to the main draw of the Guadalajara Open Akron 1000 defeating Russian Elina Avanesyan 7-5 y 6-2.
The 17-year-old, who won her first professional title last month in Chennai, is currently76th-ranked player in the world and was the first-seeded player in the qualification tournament.
Linda appeared to coast to the victory after breaking Avanesyan’s serve in the first game and once again in the third, converting her fifth chance. The Russian was unable to play consistently with her first serve, leading to several double faults.
The Russian got one serve back in the very next game, bouncing back from 40-0 with some help from some double faults of the Czech player.
Ironically, Fruhvirtova broke serve once again on the fifth game of the set to take a 4-1 lead.
Avanesyan held service and broke Fruhvirtova’s serve before tying the match 4-4.
Neither player held serve until the 12th game of the match, where the Czech took the first serve in just over an hour.
Fruhvirtova finished the first set with nine double faults while her rival made seven.
The Czech teenager cruised to the win with a dominant second set.
Among the players who made it to the main draw are the American Asia Muhammad, who defeated Brazilian Laura Pigossi 6-2, 6-4; Canadian Rebecca Marino, who beat American Elvina Kalieva 7-5, 2-6 y 6-3; and Brazilian Carolina Alves, who cruised past Norway’s Ulrikke Eiken 6-2, 6-3.
