The grass-court season kicked off in the UK with the Nottingham Open WTA 250 from 6-12 June. Seeded 7 Beatriz Haddad, won her best title so far, beating American Alison Riske 6/4 1/6 6/3 in the singles final in just over 2 hours. On her way, the South American also beat Greece's Maria Sakkari, the tournament's number 1 seed, in the quarter-finals.

Since 2015, a Brazilian had not won a title in this category, the last one was Teliana Pererira when she won the Florianopolis Open. With this victory, Haddad climbed 16 places in the WTA rankings to position herself at number 32.

Haddad won a double trophy in the English tournament, after defeating with Shuai Zhang, the pair of Caroline Dolehide and Monica Niculescu in the doubles final. The match lasted 1:27 hr and with this victory the Brazilian won her 3rd title of the year in this modality.

The last tournaments she won in doubles were the Sydney WTA 500 in January and the Trophee Lagardere WTA 125 in May, as well as reaching the final of the Australian Open where she lost to the Czech pair of Krejcikova and Siniakova.

Beatriz Haddad triumphs in Nottingham
